Minamo is located in Ukiha, a city in Fukuoka Prefecture on the Island of Kyushu.
Since times of old, Ukiha has taken advantage of the region's abundant supply of high-quality groundwater that flows from the mountains, as well as the power of the Chikugo River, Kyushu's largest river. We offer unforgettable stays that allow you to engage with local tales and traditions shaped by the area's unique relationship with water the crafts influenced by this. Immerse yourself in the activities and lifestyle of Ukiha.
Each guest room is furnished with Ukiha products that are in some way related to "water," such as spring water, native tea, or noodles. Guests can enjoy the distinctive designs of each room, with some featuring a private sauna or bar.
Three accommodation buildings with six rooms are located in the Chikugo Yoshii Traditional Buildings Preservation District. This area's town layout and stately, white-walled storehouse-style buildings date back to the Edo period, weaving together the past and present of Ukiha.
The Minamo Usui Residence, the only building in the district with grey plaster walls, was renovated from a once-thriving rapeseed oil and wax manufacturing business. It offers three guest rooms in the main house and one in a detached building, preserving the original beams and walls to evoke the atmosphere of this over-century-old structure. Guests can enjoy the varying designs of each room.
The Minamo Horie Residence, a former family-run medical clinic, allows guests to book the entire building for their stay. Additionally, a stone-lined irrigation channel from the Edo period flows through the garden, providing guests with a serene space to spend time enjoying the changing seasons.
The Minamo Kagamidakura rooms are located in the renovated warehouse of the Kagamida Yashiki, a mansion designated as a cultural asset of Ukiha City. Originally a county government office from the late Edo to the early Meiji period, the first floor features a private bar where guests can indulge in the local delicacies of Ukiha.
Each guest room includes various Ukiha products closely related to water, such as spring water, native tea, and noodles.
